JOE LYNN TURNER: RITCHIE BLACKMORE Was Approached To Play On HTP CD
July 12, 2002Former RAINBOW/DEEP PURPLE guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was approached to play on the debut album from HUGHES TURNER PROJECT (a.k.a. HTP)—the collaboration between ex-RAINBOW/DEEP PURPLE singer Joe Lynn Turner and former DEEP PURPLE/BLACK SABBATH vocalist Glenn Hughes—but the plan never panned out, Turner has revealed via his official newsletter. "We did approach Ritchie's management [about playing on the CD]," the singer said. "We honestly believe he never got our message… He would have been given carte blanche [in the studio]—he could have played on any track he wanted to play on. I would have liked to have heard him on 'Fade Away' or some other moody type song as that is what he seems to enjoy the most."
